This $100-million project is part of a national effort upgrading ports of entry with new facilities and upgrades to old structures. Contracts for construction management and architectural services have been awarded, and certain operations have been adjusted during the first phase of work. The port's renovation is necessary due to aging infrastructure that dates back to 1951.
