Construction underway on Thunder Bay hospital’s Cardiovascular Surgery Program

Construction has begun on the new Cardiovascular Surgery Program at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre in Northwestern Ontario. This project, funded by the Government of Ontario and community donors, will create more than 76,000 square feet of clinical space. The new facilities will include 14 cardiovascular surgery inpatient beds and a state-of-the-art surgical suite, aiming to improve local access to cardiac care and reduce patient wait times. The project is in partnership with the University Health Network and is expected to be completed by 2027.

Le chantier du nouveau programme de chirurgie cardiovasculaire du Centre des sciences de la santé de Thunder Bay a débuté dans le Nord-Ouest de l'Ontario. Financé par le gouvernement de l'Ontario et des donateurs communautaires, le projet comprendra plus de 7 000 mètres carrés d'espace clinique. Ces nouvelles installations visent à améliorer l'accès aux soins cardiaques régionaux avec, notamment, 14 lits en chirurgie cardiovasculaire et une salle d'opération moderne. Le programme est réalisé en partenariat avec le Réseau universitaire de santé et devrait être achevé d'ici 2027.
