Winning names selected for Ontario Line tunnel boring machines

Metrolinx announced the naming of two new tunnel boring machines (TBMs), Libby and Corkie, which will be used for the Ontario Line subway project in Toronto. These names honor the Liberty Village and Corktown communities, which the subway line will serve. The TBMs arrived in Canada and are being prepared to commence tunneling in early 2026, following the completion of excavation at the tunnel launch shaft. The Ontario Line is recognized as a significant infrastructure project in ReNew Canada's 2025 Top100 Projects report.
