CIB commits $24M to renewable energy project for northern Quebec First Nation

The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) has provided a $24 million loan to support the Atikamekw of Opitciwan in developing a renewable energy facility in northern Quebec. The Onimiskiw Opitciwan Limited Partnership will undertake the construction and operation of the 4.8-megawatt Centrale de cogénération d’Opitciwan. This facility aims to generate electricity for the remote First Nation community of 2,500 residents.

La Banque de l'infrastructure du Canada (BIC) a accordé un prêt de 24 millions de dollars pour soutenir les Atikamekw d'Opitciwan dans la réalisation d'une installation énergétique renouvelable dans le nord du Québec. Le partenariat Onimiskiw Opitciwan construira et exploitera la centrale de cogénération de 4,8 mégawatts à Opitciwan. Cette installation vise à produire de l'électricité pour la communauté isolée des Premières Nations de 2 500 habitants.
