ABB Installation Products has launched the Microlectric EM Series EV energy management system to facilitate residential electric vehicle charging by optimizing power distribution. This system allows for scalable application across various residential settings and integrates with existing electrical infrastructures ranging from 60 A to 200 A. It helps to prevent system overloads by balancing power demand and can also manage other non-essential electrical loads. The product is manufactured in Canada at facilities in Quebec and Calgary.

A new 4.8-MW forest biomass cogeneration facility in Northern Quebec aims to reduce diesel reliance for the Atikamekw of Opitciwan by generating electricity from local wood waste. Supported by a $24-million loan from the Canada Infrastructure Bank, the facility will increase energy security and stimulate local economic growth. The project will also include a new substation and battery energy storage system to improve power stability, reducing diesel use by 4.6 million liters and CO2 emissions by 13,000 tonnes annually. The construction will support 40 jobs, with expectations to complete and commission by the end of next summer.

The Canada Infrastructure Bank is providing its first Indigenous equity loan in Quebec as part of a $108.3-million financing package for the Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n 2 Wind Farm (MU2) project. This wind farm is a partnership between Mi’gmawei Mawiomi Business Corp. and Innergex Renewable Energy. The project will create approximately 150 construction jobs and is set to integrate at least 30% of its workforce from local Mi’gmaq communities. Additional financing includes green and construction bridge loans from various banks.
