L’Alberta lancera des consultations publiques sur l’énergie nucléaire

Alberta plans to hold public consultations in the fall regarding the introduction of nuclear energy to its energy mix, primarily through small modular reactors (SMRs). This initiative, announced by Premier Danielle Smith, aims to explore the potential of nuclear energy to support oil sands operations. The province looks to Ontario as an example, where nuclear energy plays a significant role. Ontario Power Generation already advances with SMRs, and similar projects are planned in Alberta to strengthen its energy infrastructure.

L'Alberta envisage d'organiser des consultations publiques à l'automne pour intégrer l'énergie nucléaire, notamment via de petits réacteurs modulaires (PRM), à son bouquet énergétique. Annoncé par la première ministre Danielle Smith, ce projet vise à soutenir les opérations des sables bitumineux. La province s'inspire de l'Ontario, où l'énergie nucléaire est largement utilisée. Ontario Power Generation développe déjà des PRM, et des projets similaires sont prévus en Alberta pour renforcer son infrastructure énergétique.
