Edmonton Introduces $15M Downtown Student Housing Incentive Program

The City of Edmonton has launched a new $15 million Downtown Student Housing Incentive program aimed at increasing downtown revitalization and off-campus student housing. Eligible developers can receive up to $30,000 per housing unit, provided projects meet certain criteria, such as costing over $10 million and residing in priority downtown zones. The program is part of the Housing Accelerator Fund, with funds scheduled for disbursement in stages as project milestones are met. The initiative targets improving access to affordable and safe student housing, particularly for low-income and equity-deserving students.
