Where past meets present: Honouring history through public space

The Montreal Irish Monument Park transforms the historic Black Rock site into a public space that honors Irish immigrant history. Designed by Lemay alongside the Montreal Irish Monument Park Foundation, this project integrates architecture and landscape to preserve the site's solemnity and promote education and communal engagement. Key features include a terraced agora, a water feature symbolizing the immigrants' ocean crossing, and a memorial wall with 6,000 Celtic crosses. Sustainable materials like Corten steel and locally sourced stone enhance the site's durability and ecological footprint.
